CONSCIOUS TECH GUIDE

To Black Friday

For Consumers

What Is Conscious Tech?

Conscious Tech, is a lifestyle and perspective framework that helps you create a conscious relationship with your phone and daily tech. Using awareness tools, experiments, habit formulas, and your own data, we lovingly hold space for you to create the type of relationship you want with your tech.

We start small, with simple shifts, like this guide, to start to bring awareness to your everyday habits. These shifts are easy to implement and stay consistent with. This is what builds a long term life shift. We can't wait to see what you create when you reclaim your time from your phone.

What’s In This Guide?

This guide was created to help you have a more conscious and choice filled Black Friday experience from a conscious tech and nervous system support perspective.

Inside, is an 8 step suggested process, along with 8 tips to support you. Everything here is a suggestion. Please modify, and adjust for your circumstances, life, and values. We are all different and need different things. Honor yourself first.

Step Seven

Pick a number

Don’t forget to Pause, and take a breath before you click Buy.

Tips For Black Friday

Tip One

Nervous System

Most sales are designed to hack your nervous system. They create an urgency that is hard to dismiss. Have your nervous system tools on hand for when you feel wobbly and like you want to buy something you didn’t plan on. Take a pause before you click buy.

Tip Two

Delete your saved cards

One way to create a pause before purchase is to delete your saved cards. The act of pausing to type in your card number, gives you enough time to stop, check in with yourself and your prep list to see if it is aligned for you. The pause is more important than we think!

Tip Three

Unsubscribe Party

Unsubscribe to pressured sales or brain traps. If you want to resubscribe later, you can keep a folder in your email to help you remember who you unsub-ed from and want to re-sub to. Mine is called “Unsub.” It gives you a little piece of mind that you can always find it again.

Tip Four

Compassion

Bought something you didn’t mean too? Got swept up on a sale? That’s ok. It’s time for compassion. Sometimes the guilt and shame we experience at times like this, hurts us more than the actual purchase. Go to your compassion practices. If you don’t have any, ask me, or you can hop onto Insight Timer for some compassion meditation.

Tip Five

Enough is enough

Check in with yourself to see when you are overloaded and have reached the enough is enough zone. The mental exhaustion caused by our digital lives can dysregulate us, which often leads to more compulsive behaviors. Check in. Are you exhausted, overwhelmed, burnt out?

Tip Six

Ask questions

Some of the best thought interrupters are questions. If you don’t have regular reflective questions that you ask yourself, now is a great time to create them. A great question thread is, “is this coming from lack or fear?”

Tip Seven

Delete Party

If you want to go all in, and really challenge yourself, delete all your shopping apps from your phone during Black Friday week. If you want to go a step further, really cleanse it out, try deleting your social apps during this time period too. Remember, you can always easily add them back.

Tip Eight

Bottom Line

Know when you are being influenced. This starts with a grounded sense of your nervous system, and how YOU feel. When you have the tools to be aware of your own system and how it works, you are less likely to be influenced by the outside. Start from the inside out. Then make a decision based on what is best for YOU.

Sawrah Amini

Hi, My name is Sawrah

I hope you found this guide helpful!

For ten years, I’ve been on a journey to help people (and myself) manage their energy, use their phones less, and create harmonized lives. I use the awareness & wellness tools I’ve learned and taught for more than 15 years and apply them to our digital life.

One thing I’ve learned as a highly sensitive person, who loves to learn, is that the digital life affects me deeply. And I know I’m not the only one.

I see all of us running around frazzled, task switching, overwhelmed, exhausted, disengaged, distracted, and not knowing which end is up.

Our presence and our energy are two of the most important resources we have, and I want to help us all come back to our presence, and re-engage with our lives in meaningful ways. (You get to define this for yourself.)

If this guide resonated with you, and you feel overwhelmed by the mountain of information coming at you each day, check out my Input Fast workshop. It helps you wade through the non-essential informational input and connect to your own deep presence.
